Corynebacterium paurometabolum Steinhaus 1941 (Approved Lists 1980) and Rhodococcus aurantiacus (ex Tsukamura & Mizuno 1971) Tsukamura & Yano 1985 exhibit high levels of sequence homology and these taxa should be reduced to a single species (the specific epithet paurometabolum has priority). This single species is distinct from all other mycolic acid-containing taxa and merits a new genus : Tsukamurella Collins et al. 1988.
